Richmond police said the alleged carjacking incident occurred in the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard in South Richmond around 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 30.

“I was thinking he was asking for money or something but little did I know he was pointing a gun at me asking for my keys," she said.

Smith said the duo got into her car and left.

“The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle which was later located in Henrico County, crashed in a rural area,” the police press release states.

Police said the two suspects, “a juvenile male of Richmond and Jahlia Henley, 18, of Goochland County, were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.”

Both have been charged with carjacking and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Henley’s attorney declined to comment. An attorney for the juvenile could not be reached for comment.

Smith, a home health care nurse, said she later found out that her car had been totaled.

Her friends have started aGoFundMecampaign to help her and her 10-year-old daughter.

“Because she currently has no car, she is unable to get to her jobs, which makes it challenging to support herself and her 10 year old daughter,” according to the post. “All money raised from this will go directly to Deon so she can get to jobs, and support herself and her daughter."
