18-Year-Old Dies After Tubing Accident in Utah: 'Nothing Prepares You,' Says Dad

Family and friends say they are “devastated” after an 18-year-old high school student died in a tubing accident in central Utah over the weekend.

Beagley was pronounced dead at the scene, the Emery County Sheriff’s Office told the station.

“It was nothing that they did wrong or anything,” Huntington said. “They’re just tubing down that hill and went too fast and went over the first snowbank and onto the asphalt.”

A representative with the sheriff’s office did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Students at Emery High Schoolwore “Kirsten’s Kolor” on Monday, with friends and classmates dressing in pink to honor her, according to a post the school made on social media.

“She always had a smile on her face,” Beagley’s older sister said. “She loved spending time with her family and her friends. She was always ready to go on an adventure.”

Beagley’s parents also spoke out about their grief.

“It’s heart-wrenching. Nothing prepares you for something like this,” said dad Kyle Beagley.

On the GoFundMe, which has raised more than $17,000 as of Wednesday afternoon, Davis wrote that the family is “all so devastated.”

“The loss is so sad for all involved and now all her friends and family will be attending her funeral on the same day of the very dance the activity was for," the organizer wrote. “It’s heartbreaking.”
