A 2-year-old girl in Hampton, Va., died after accidentally shooting herself on Tuesday afternoon.

At about 1:05 p.m., the city’s police department received a call reporting the shooting at the 500 Block of Marcella Road, according to a Tuesdaypress releasefrom police.

After officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound, per the release.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there are no further updates in the investigation, police told PEOPLE in a statement.
