The girl was walking on the road when she was hit,FOX affiliate WNYWreported. The victim’s identity has not been publicly released.
The girl’s body was promptly taken to a temple in the town of Monsey, where a funeral was subsequently held, according to WNYW. Her burial occurred a short time later.
The community in which the crash occurred is reportedly home to a large population of Hasidic Jews.

The Spring Valley police and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
Neighbor Elishiva Nasri recalled waking up to the sounds of “crying and screaming” this morning, telling WNBC, “It was very painful."
The bus driver was reportedly clearly shaken after the incident. One witness described the driver as “devastated,” according toThe Journal Newsand WNYW.
Another witness described the scene after the crash as “a madhouse.” She said police took families to see their children one at a time, though some tried to “cross the line to check on their children” amidst the chaos, perThe Journal News.
