6-Year-Old Oregon Boy Mauled to Death on Way to School Is ID'd: 'Touched So Many Hearts'

The boy, identified on aGoFundMe campaignas Loyalty Scott, had been left with his grandmother’s friend, who was supposed to take him to school at the time of the attack on Dec. 5,Fox 12reported, citing Portland Police Bureau Public Information Officer Mike Benner.

“Loyalty touched so many hearts,” the boy’s family wrote on the fundraiser. “He always had a smile on his face and there was no way anyone could be in a bad mood around him.”

Benner told Fox 12 the boy followed the woman into her garage, where the dogs were kept, when one of the dogs began attacking him.

“We understand that the homeowner/dog owner did everything in her power to stop this attack, at some point even grabbing a gun — it never got that far,” Benner reportedly said.

While local police have offered to pay for the boy’s funeral, relatives shared on the GoFundMe page that the family still needs help with living expenses. It has raised nearly $10,000 in donations as of Monday.
