A crocodile has been making itself at home in a condo community in Florida.

A woman at the complex in Fort Lauderdale spotted the reptile sunbathing on a floating dock on Monday, according to local media outlet7News.

The crocodile was seen at the Bay Colony Club in the area and reportedly stayed on one of the community’s docks for two days.

According to the woman who saw the reptile, she called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for assistance but was told that no one could respond as it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Meanwhile, another resident toldNBC 6 South Floridathat the FWC had visited the community on Tuesday, but they said there was nothing they could do about the 8-foot reptile.

“They were out here on a boat this morning and they told me there’s really nothing they can do, there’s some pretty particular laws about relocating American crocodiles,” the neighbor told the outlet.

“It was sitting there all day yesterday just sunning, sunning itself,” he added. “And then it was back up on the dock this morning again.”

Another resident, Will Toldy, told 7News that he was “slightly shocked” to see the reptile in the community.

“I wasn’t anticipating coming down and seeing one of these guys sitting here out on the dock,” he said. “But I mean it is South Florida. It’s par for the course. As long as everyone maintains their distance and let him do his thing, everyone else does their thing, life goes on.”

According to 7News, the crocodile is not new to the area and has a tag on its tail and a transponder on its back.
