Academy Award Nominee Ned Beatty Dead at 83: Reports

Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor Ned Beatty died from natural causes on Sunday, according to reports. He was 83.

Beatty was nominated for an Academy Award in 1976 for his work inNetworkand a Golden Globe in 1991 forHear My Song. Additionally, he was nominated for Emmys forFriendly FireandLast Train Homein 1979 and 1989, respectively.

Always a scene-stealer, the character actor will forever be remembered thanks to his impressive list of 166 credits.

A representative for Ned Beatty did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
