Adam Doleac and Wife MacKinnon Reveal Sex of Their First Baby: 'We Were Shocked' (Exclusive)

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE about his sex reveal with wifeMacKinnon, the “Biggest Fan” singer, 35, says the most important thing about the special event was that they’d be with their family and friends.

“We loved the idea of just using the poppers because everyone got to shoot their own and be included in the big moment! It was so fun!”

The video shows the groups, elated and in some cases, emotional, reactions as a puff of blue confetti indicated the pair have a little boy on the way.

The couple admits the results were a bit of a surprise to them both.

“We both were leaning towards it being a girl, so we definitely feel very surprised! MacKinnon was basically POSITIVE about that and she pretty much had me convinced of that as well! So, when it started raining blue confetti, we were shocked,” Adam says.

The pair are grateful that for the most part, the pregnancy experience has been smooth sailing.

“The pregnancy has honestly been great aside from a couple of hiccups along the way,” Adam shares. “It is obviously a learning experience, more so for MacKinnon, and a bizarre experience for me seeing first-hand what the female body can do. MacKinnon has been so great through it all though, and we are so excited to meet our little guy.”

Adam and MacKinnon are looking forward to all the memories they’ll make with their little one, explaining that while their minds are flooded with ideas for their son and their family’s future, right now, they’re enjoying this moment.

“I think we are most excited just becoming parents at all! It is a dream we have both always had, and it is wild to think it’s only a matter of weeks away,” he shares.
