Aidy Bryant Surprises 'Sweetie' Charles Melton at Spirit Awards with Matching T-Shirts: 'Told You It Would Fit'

The2024 Film Independent Spirit Awardsare all about the love of filmmaking — oh, andAidy Bryant’s love ofCharles Melton!

At the Santa Monica award show (which host Bryant, 36, dubbed “the Bisexual Oscars”) on Sunday, theSaturday Night Livealum declared her love for Melton, 33, with a very special T-shirt.

“Hey everybody, do you like my shirt? It’s my ultimate Charles Melton fan T-shirt,” the host said. “It’s got all my fave Charles moments on it, you know, likeRiverdale,May December… As I mentioned Charles is actually here tonight — Charles, do you like my shirt?”

The camera then cut to Melton in the audience, who, not-so-coincidentally, was wearing a nearly identical shirt — only his was covered with photos of Bryant’s face.

“Oh my gosh, wait, you have a T-shirt of me?” theSNLalum asked. “And it has allmybest moments on it? Me as a screaming woman, me as a chicken in a bonnet and me as vacation braids Ted Cruz?”

“I told you it would fit you, you big sweetie,” she added, and Melton blurted out: “I love you.”

“Alright, I guess we have to do this stupid award show or whatever,” she joked.

Reflecting on his awards-season run earlier this month, Melton told PEOPLE, “The moments that I’ve had and the words I’ve shared with people along this journey. . . that is what matters.”

“If I’m thinking about this or whatever may come, then I’m not really existing in the moment,” he added.
