A popular cooking appliance is being recalled amid the holiday season.
On Thursday, Empower Brands recalled its PowerXL DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissionreportedthat about 319,00 units were recalled after posing a burn hazard, as the plastic connector used to connect its two food baskets can break during use.
There have been 41 reports of the air fryers breaking during use, including three burn cases. The agency stated that the units were sold in black and cinnamon colors between August 2021 and October 2023 in popular retail stores such as Target, Walmart, and Kohl’s, and their websites, priced between $60 and $190 (depending on the model).
To help consumers identify whether their air fryer was recalled, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission also includes detailed descriptions of the units on its notice.
