Alaska Mom Allegedly Stabbed Her 3-Year-Old Daughter to Death Before Wounding Herself

An Alaska mother has been accused of murdering her young daughter before wounding herself Wednesday morning.

She was taken into custody Thursday after being released from a local hospital, the news release states.

Jackson was with her daughter in the back seat of the vehicle when the pair was found. A knife was found under the front seat. The mother “made statements to responding officers at the scene indicating she ‘did it’ and no one else was involved,” according to the charging documents, KTUU reports.

Police had contact with Jackson in the past.

In September, Jackson’sfather sought a domestic violence protective orderagainst the young mother on behalf of his granddaughter, KTUU and theAnchorage Daily Newsreport.

He gained court ordered temporary custody of the girl for 20 days after requesting help with getting mental health and substance abuse treatment for Jackson.

It was not immediately clear if Jackson has retained an attorney who could comment on her behalf.
