G. Gordon Liddy is well known for masterminding the plot to infiltrate the Democratic Party headquarters in the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C., in June 1972. The scandal would lead to his 1973 conviction and sentencing for conspiracy, burglary and illegally wiretapping — and it was a bizarre snafu that was ultimately his undoing.
Graff writes how, in a meeting with then Attorney General John Mitchell, Liddy then detailed his plots, replete with spy planes, illegal break-ins, and blackmail.

In the 1970s, five gay men were killed over an 18-month span, with their bodies discovered in remote locations around San Francisco. Police believed the murders were the work of a serial killer.
They nicknamed him the Doodler, for his habit of sketching his victims prior to his sexual encounters with them, which would precede the murders. He would find his victims at diners or gay bars in the neighborhoods of Polk Gulch, the Tenderloin and the Castro.

Rep. Matt Gaetz.Photo: Elijah Nouvelage/Bloomberg via Getty
By one view, Rep.Matt Gaetzshould not be nearly this famous.
A Florida lawmaker in his third term, Gaetz represents the state’s 1st Congressional District, on the Panhandle’s western edge, far from the metropolitan centers of Jacksonville, Miami and Tampa in one of the most reliably conservative areas in the country.
Gaetz has, however, passed no bills and holds no influential committee role in the House of Representatives.
