Sixteen years ago, everything changed for ABC News journalistBob Woodruff as he was riding in an armored vehicle in Iraq. On Jan. 29, 2006, a roadside bomb went off on, and Woodruff, along with his cameraman, Doug Vogt, were severely injured with shrapnel wounds to the head.
Woodruff was treated at hospitals in Iraq and Germany before returning to the U.S. He was in a coma for almost 40 days, and then endured a tough recovery period.

ABC chief medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton is opening up about one of the most painful periods of her life.
“Today, it is announced that on May 7 I will be releasing a book on a topic I never thought I would or could publicly discuss,” she wrote on Instagram. “When suicide hit my family, we learned first-hand that no one is immune from what is now the 10th leading cause of death in the US.

Texas authorities need helping finding a 14-year-old girl who was kidnapped Saturday.
An Amber Alert was issued Sunday night for Hayley Giandoni.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Hayley was abducted from Collin County.
She was last seen in Fairview, Texas, at about 6 p.m. that evening.
Hayley is a white female with brown hair and brown eyes.
She stands about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 170 lbs.
