More than 350 advocacy groups and LGBTQ+ activists wrote an open letter this week calling for the immediate removal of an Oklahoma state superintendent following the death ofNex Benedict.
The groups allege Walters “has a long history of anti-2SLGBTQI+ (two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex+) rhetoric and policies” and they’re calling for an investigation into the Oklahoma Department of Education “to determine what actions and policies have led to a culture where rampant harassment of 2SLGBTQI+ students has been allowed to go unchecked.

Nearly 250 people — including legal experts, politicians, psychologists and falsely convicted former inmates —signed an open letterto Wisconsin’s governor requesting clemency forBrendan Dassey, whose murder conviction was featured in the 2015 Netflix docuseriesMaking a Murderer.
Dassey, 30, is serving a life sentence for first-degree intentional homicide, mutilation of a corpse and sexual assault in connection with 25-year-old Teresa Halbach’s death in 2005.

Ady Barkan, progressive activist who used his battle withamyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)to lead the fight for healthcare reform, has died at the age of 39.
Barkan’s wife, Rachael Scarborough King, shared the news on social media Wednesday.
“I’m devastated to share the news that Ady has died from complications of ALS,” shewroteon X, formerly Twitter. “You probably knew Ady as a healthcare activist. But more importantly he was a wonderful dad and my life partner for 18 years.

The chance to visit Disney’s newStar Wars:Galaxy’s Edge theme park isn’t so far, far away anymore.
The highly-anticipated land, which will open at both Disneyland (in May) and Walt Disney World (in August), is nearing completion. New aerial photos of the Orlando park show the 14-acre spread nearing completion and offer a sneak peek at the attractions visitors have to look forward to.
The shots show a sprawling area filled with various still-under-construction creations – including the iconic Millennium Falcon.
