Al Roker’s first grandchild is going to be a girl!
“Courtney is expecting our first granddaughter,” Roker, 68, toldETin an interview published Wednesday, before reportedly correcting himself and using the word “grandchild” instead.
“I wanted to be surprised,” added Roker with a laugh, also noting Courtney is due in June.

Roker, 64, shared a gallery of photos of the hangout to Instagram, pictures snapped while he held Kotb’s newest addition. Kotb’s mother (Grandma Sami) was also seen in the pictures, as was Kotb’s oldest daughter, 2-year-old Haley Joy — to whom Roker read a book in one sweet shot.
“So much #happiness spending time with @hodakotb, Grandma Sami and the reason I can’t stop smiling, Big Sister Haley Joy and the newest addition to #TeamHodaandJoel Hope Catherine,” Roker captioned the post.

It was a surprising love-at-first-sight for Al Roker and hisadopted dog, Pepper.
“I always made fun of the people with those little rat dogs, but the great thing about Pepper is she’s small, but she has a big personality,” Roker, 61, says. “She runs, she chases stuff, she plays fetch.”
“She’s not a lap dog, but you rub her belly and she’s yours. She’s the perfect dog.”
Roker and his family, wifeDeborah Roberts, an ABC News journalist, and kids Leila, 17 and Nick, 14, found Pepper through theMain Line Animal Rescueoutside Philadelphia in September 2012.

On Friday, Jan. 6, Al Roker went to work, striding through the doors of NBC News' Studio 1A in New York City’s Rockefeller Center at the crack of dawn with his trademark vim and vigor.
But this was no ordinary work day.
It was the first time Roker, 68, had returned to theTodayshow after a two-month hiatus that left him hospitalized twice for up to two weeks at a time – and close to dying.
