On Dec. 24, Tamika Stallworth of Monroe County allegedly opened fire into an occupied vehicle on County Road 42 in Peterman, striking the child, Jamaya Austin, in the face, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement.

Stallworth was arrested on Dec. 24. Two days later she was charged with murder.
She is being held on a $750,000 bond. It is unclear whether she has retained an attorney who can speak on her behalf or whether she has entered a plea.

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Parolesdebated for about a minutebefore voting Wednesday to deny release for Judith Ann Neelley, reports AL. com.
The decision came two days after Alabama Gov. Kay Iveyissued a letter that also opposed parole for Neelley and decried the “unspeakable brutality” of her crimes.
Neelley was convicted afterabducting 13-year-old Lisa Ann Millican from a shopping mallin Rome, Georgia, in September 1982, according to theCoosa Valley News.

The 29-year-old Alabama woman who texted a friend saying “I feel in trouble” after leaving a Birmingham bar with two men in December died of an accidental overdose, say officials.
On Thursday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office announced in a statement that the cause of death forPaighton Houston of Trussvillewas morphine and methamphetamine toxicity and that the manner was an accident, NBC News first reported.
The news came a day after authorities arrested convicted sex offender Frederick Hampton, 50, charging him with abuse of a corpse.

An Alabama woman who was born with two uteri is pregnant in both, according to local outletWVTM 13.
“I said, ‘Well, there’s two of them in there.’ And [my husband] said, ‘You’re lying.’ I said, ‘No, I’m not,’ " Kelsey told WVTM 13.
She and Caleb are already parents to three children — ages 7, 4 and 2 — and her due date for the new additions, both girls, is later this year on Christmas Day.

Smith reportedly dropped out of Hazel Green High School at the age of 16 in 1942, as her husband went off to fight in World War II.
“She never ever mentioned regretting anything in life. She would never take it back because she absolutely loved my grandfather and that was just what she wanted to do, but I think this was very important to her,” her granddaughter Erin Wilson, who helped arrange the ceremony, told WAAY.
