Alex Murdaugh Found Guilty of Murdering His Wife and Son

After weeks of testimony from more than 75 witnesses who took the stand, disgraced South Carolina lawyerAlex Murdaugh, has been found guilty of the 2021 murders of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. On June 7 of that year, Maggie, 52, and Paul, 22, were found shot to death near the dog kennels on the 1,770-acre property in Islandton, S.C., where the family’s hunting lodge was located. Jurors deliberated for less than three hours before delivering the guilty verdicts.

Alex Murdaugh Gets 2 Life Sentences in Prison for Murders of Wife and Son

Alex Murdaughwas sentenced Friday morning to two life sentences in prison, and the sentences will run consecutively. The sentencing came the day after Murdaugh, 54, wasfound guiltyof themurdersof his wife,Maggie, 52, and son,Paul, 22. On Thursday, a day before Murdaugh, 53, was due to appear in virtual court for a bond hearing on27 financial charges from November, Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that a grand jury had issuedseven indictments consisting of 21 new financial chargesagainst the once-prominent attorney.
