As proceedings resumed Monday inthe defamation trialbetween Depp and Heard in Fairfax, Virginia, the 36-year-old actress said Depp, 58, “effectively stood me up on the red carpet” in May 2016, after theirfight during her 30th birthday partythe previous month.

After the six-week trial in Fairfax County, Virginia, aseven-person jury reached a verdictearlier this month deciding that Depp, 59, proved theAquamanactress, 36, defamed him in a 2018 op-ed. (Depp has maintained that he never assaulted Heard, andclaimed she physically harmed him.)
The jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages butHeard will only have to pay $10.35 milliondue to a Virginia law limiting punitive damages (the judge reduced the amount). In her countersuit, Heard won one of the three defamation counts, and was awarded $2 million in damages.

She added that she still plans to honor the pledge, according to Guthrie in Wednesday’s aired segment.
Heard’s statement came after Guthrie asked, “You had promised to donate the $7 million of your divorce settlement to charity. It was revealed at trialthat you haven’t done so yet[but] they played a tape where you [said you had]. Do you think that raised questions as to your credibility with the jury?”

Amber Heardis opening up about the backlash she received after makingallegations of abuseagainst ex-husbandJohnny Depp.
In an op-ed written for theWashington Postand published on Tuesday, theAquamanactress wrote she “felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out” against domestic violence.
“Friends and advisers told me I would never again work as an actress — that I would be blacklisted. A movie I was attached to recast my role,” the 32-year-old shared.
