AMC Fires 3 Employees Over Racial Profiling Incident During 'Harriet' Screening in Louisiana

AMC Theaters has fired three of its employees after 15 members of an African American women’s group claimed they were racially profiled during a screening of the Harriet Tubman biopic,Harriet, in Louisiana. They claim that after members of the nonprofit told AMC management what happened, they were offered free movie tickets, which they turned down as they did not want to return to the theater after their experience. “It was like the 1800s coming back to my face in 2019,” said member Sandra Gordon an interview withWDSU.

AMC Rolls Out $20 Monthly Subscription to Rival MoviePass

AMC Theaters is preparing to give MoviePass a run for its money. The mega-theater chain announced a new monthly subscription plan in which customers could see three movies a week for $19.95 a month,according to BusinessWire. The new plan will be called AMC Stubs A-List and the cost does not include taxes. While the plan is new to the chain, it’s serving up competition for MoviePass, which offers customers one free movie a day for $9.
