American race car driver Juan Manuel Correa has been placed in a medically induced coma after acrashat the Spa-Francorchamps circuit during the Belgian Grand Prix on August 31.
Juan Manuel’s parents, Juan Carlos and Maria Correa, said in astatementon Friday that “new complications have surfaced as a consequence of the massive impact he suffered” from the crash, which killed French racer Antoine Hubert.
After a four-hour surgery at the CHU Liège hospital in Belgium after the crash, Juan Manuel, 20, was subsequently taken to a hospital in London to be treated, theBBC reported.

Joshua Holt, 26, a Mormon missionary, had been held captive with his wife, fellow missionary Thamara Caleno, since shortly after their wedding in 2016.
The two had been jailed and held without trial after Venezuelan law enforcementaccused the couple of stockpiling weaponsin their apartment in Caracas, reports NBCNews.
Days before he was freed, Holt hadpleaded for the U.S. government’s helpin two videos posted to Facebook, according toThe New York Times. “I’ve been begging my government for two years,” he said in one video.

Although American adults are having less sex and exchanging less rings than they once did, romance isn’t dead — and neither is relationship satisfaction.
In contrast,when the survey was conducted 20 years earlier, only 18.7% of adults reported not having any sex.
The Washington Postpreviously reported that the change has been most pronounced in younger adults. Between 2008 and 2018, the percentage of Americans between the ages of 18 to 29 not having sex doubled.
