An American teenager is back on home soil after she and her boyfriend spent over 30 days in a Cayman Islands prison forbreaking COVID-19 quarantine protocols on the island.
Skylar Mack, 18, a student from Loganville, Georgia, and Vanjae Ramgeet, 24, a professional jet-ski racer from the Cayman Islands, were released from prison on January 15, the Cayman Islands government confirmed to PEOPLE. The pair served approximately one month of what was originally a four-month sentence, later reduced to two.

John Isner is ready for another great U.S. Open!
The highest-ranked American men’s singles player, seeded 14th, plays Spanish pro Guillermo García López in the tournament’s first round Tuesday at New York City’s Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Ahead of his Aug. 24 appearance at the Brookfield Place Open’s celebrity open in N.Y.C., Isner, 34, said he’s “feeling pretty good” about his 13th open.
“The most important thing is that I’m feeling healthy right now, which is really all you can ask for,” Isner told PEOPLE.

A former resort security guard at an Airbnb in Costa Rica has been convicted ofkilling an American touristin 2018, according to local reports.
Carla Stefaniak, 36, was on vacation in Costa Rica in late November of that year. She was set to return home on November 28 — her birthday, which the trip was planned to celebrate. She checked into her flight online, but never boarded the plane.

A Connecticut woman lost part of her leg during a shark attack in Turks and Caicos, according to authorities.
The 22-year-old victim was visiting the Bone Yard dive site in Princess Alexandra National Park last week when she was “severely injured while snorkeling,” according to a news release from the Department of Environment & Coastal Resources, Turks & Caicos.

Two U.S. tourists visiting Rome, Italy, were fined for causing damage to the city’s Spanish Steps.
The publication reports that the visitors were fined €400 (approximately $430) and were banned from further visiting Rome’s historic city center for six months. The duo remains unnamed.
The incident caused €25,000 (approximately $27,000) in damages,The Guardianreports.
