In its first season, Max’sSex and the CitysequelAnd Just Like That…tried to align the original series with a new Manhattan and a new era, expanding the lineup of female characters to reflect greater racial, sexual and gender diversity. But this laudable goal created a show that often felt swollen (and longer, stretching past a half-hour) — a stylish little comedy that once slipped into a Jimmy Choo now needed an Ugg boot.

Sex and the Cityis about to get a breath of fresh air, more than 23 years after it first debuted on HBO.
And Just Like That…, billed as “the new chapter” following Carrie Bradshaw and her friends, is set to premiere on HBO Max on Dec. 9 with the first two episodes, the network announced Friday. The remaining eight installments of the ten-episode Max Original series will air on subsequent Thursdays into the new year.

On theAnd Just Like That…The Writers Roompodcast Thursday, showrunner Michael Patrick King first noted that they used a prosthetic penis for the scene. King, who wrote on the originalSATC,also said the writers want to convey Charlotte and Harry’s “healthy” and “spontaneous” sex life.
