Nearly 21 years ago, Andrea Yates horrified the nation when she confessed to drowning her five young children in the bathtub of their suburban Houston home on June 20, 2001.
After she drowned the children, she called 911 repeatedly and then called her husband and told him to come home from work.
Yates was charged with five counts of capital murder. Her high-profile 2002 trial made national news. It was broadcast live and even landed on the cover of PEOPLE.

Last month, Pasquotank District Attorney Andrew Womble alleged that unreleased bodycam video showed Brown hitting officers with his car and driving toward police.

According toCNN, the Brown family settled with Pasquotank County for $3 million, after initially filing a $30 million lawsuit.
Brown, 42, was shot and killed in Elizabeth City, N.C., in April 2021, while the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office was serving him drug-related search and arrest warrants. According to police, Brown suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the back of the head in his vehicle,PEOPLE previously reported.
