ThePhantom of the Operatook its final bow onBroadwaySunday evening — andAndrew Lloyd Webberdedicated the performance to his late son,Nicholas Lloyd Webber.
After 35 years and nearly 14,000 performances that made it the longest-running show in Broadway history,Phantomplayed for the final time at the Majestic Theatre in New York City, where Andrew, 75, dedicated the curtain call to Nick, whodied last month at age 43 from gastric cancer.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is not a fan of the film adaptation of his musical,Cats.
Nearly two years after the film’s release, the 73-year-old composercalled it “off-the-scale all wrong"during an interview withVarietythis week. He admitted that he disliked the film so much that it prompted him to buy a dog.
“Catswas off-the-scale all wrong,” he said. “There wasn’t really any understanding of why the music ticked at all.

Andrew Lloyd Webberis opening up about his final moments with his late son.
“‘An apple a day, if well aimed, keeps the doctor away.’ I was speaking in P.G. Wodehouse quotes with my eldest son, Nick, who was in hospice, where he was being treated for cancer just days ago,” Webber began.
“The next day, my son died,” Webber wrote. “Nothing’s worse for a parent than the death of a child.

The iconic composer and impresario, 74, shared in a statement on Saturday that he’s “absolutely devastated” about his son Nicholas Lloyd Webber, 43, and his diagnosis.
“As my friends and family know, he has been fighting gastric cancer for the last 18 months and Nick is now hospitalized,” Webber wrote. “I, therefore, have not been able to attend the recent previews ofBad Cinderellaand as things stand, I will not be able to cheer on its wonderful cast, crew and orchestra on opening night this Thursday.

April Fools, musical fans!
Andrew Lloyd Webberteased his followers Friday on April Fools' Day withan Instagram Reels videoof himself performing a song parodying his 1981 musicalCats.
In the clip, the 74-year-old Broadway legend said he has “moved on” from theCatsmovie, which hit the big screen in 2019, to a new show calledDogs.
“Dogs. I’m talking of dogs,” Webber crooned. “Not kangaroos, not centipedes or frogs. I’m talking of dogs.
