Police said the driver was crossing the roadway at a green light around 8:42 a.m. local time when Braden stepped in front of the car’s path.
The Cobb County School Districtpreviously told WAGAthat the victim was a student who was hit while walking to school.
Braden, who would have turned 16 on Friday, April 5, was an organ donor and his mom believes he will now help at least 70 people.

A 15-year-old boy from Ridgewood, Queens, is in stable condition after he fell on a wrought iron fence on Tuesday, Feb. 4, causing a spike to go through his left leg, authorities said.

An Arkansas teenager has been charged with murder after three people were found shot dead inside a burning home over the weekend.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday that a 15-year-old boy, who is being charged as an adult, was arrested on charges of capital murder, arson, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence, according to theArkansas Democrat-Gazette, and theAssociated Press. He is reportedly being held without bail.

A community in Texas is in mourning after a 15-year-old boy died when he crossed in front of a slow-moving train while he walked to school.
Police were working with Union Pacific Railroad police to get video footage, but Elsbury called Rodriguez’s death “a tragic accident.”
A representative with the Houston Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional information.
In a statement, Union Pacific said it “shares Houston’s grief” following the event in which Rodriguez “made a tragic decision to try and outrun a moving train.
