A pair of Denver firefighters are reportedly facing disciplinary action after asking a doctor to declare a woman dead when she was still alive.
Lieutenant Patrick Lopez and firefighter Marshall Henry were reportedlysuspended without payfor their respective roles inthe June 24 incident, reportedThe Denver Post, NBC affiliate KUSA andFOX affiliate KDVR.
The Denver Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The woman reportedly had recently undergone stomach surgery, according to the newspaper and FOX affiliate KDVR.

Two drill sergeants were found dead at a South Carolina military base within eight days, according to army officials.
Allen M. Burtram, 34, was found dead at Fort Jackson on Dec. 8 when he didn’t report for work, officials said in anews release. Fort Jackson Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, where the man from Cleveland, Ala.

Scientists have reported that two endangered whales have been found entangled in fishing gear off the coast of Massachusetts.
According to a statement from theNational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA) released on Wednesday, Dec. 17, the two North Atlantic right whales were spotted swimming during an aerial survey approximately 50 miles southeast of Nantucket, Mass. on Dec. 9.
One of the whales is a juvenile male identified as #5110.
