4 Dead and 7 Hospitalized with 'Serious Injuries' Following Stabbing Attack in Illinois

Four people are dead after a man embarked on a stabbing rampage in Rockford, Illinois on Wednesday afternoon. A further seven have been injured. According to anews releasefrom the Rockford Police Department, the victims were a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. The injured individuals were transported to local hospitals with “serious injuries," added the police statement. Speaking at anews conferenceon Wednesday afternoon, Police Chief Carla Redd said one of the injured was in a “critical condition” following the incident, which she called a “multi-jurisdictional event.

The lone survivor was flown to Oklahoma City for care, OSBI Captain Stan Florence said, CNN reported. Additional details on the victims are not available at this time. After combing the area through the night with investigators on the ground, drones and helicopters tracking land activity overhead, Florence said the “suspect in mind” has likely gotten out of the vicinity.

Around 6:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, the King City Police Department was dispatched to a residence on a report of shots fired, according to apress release from police. Three adult males were found deceased at the scene, while an adult woman was among the four people who had been wounded.
