Five tourists have been rescued after being stranded underground at the Grand Canyon Caverns in Arizona.
By Monday night, “all subjects were safely removed” and “were all in good condition,” Coconino County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jon Paxton tells PEOPLE on Tuesday morning.
The tourists got stranded about 21 stories underground on Sunday after an elevator “stopped working,” Paxton previously toldCNN. The issue was discovered after the group tried to leave the attraction, which features some of the largest dry caverns in the country, according toABC News.

A satellite is expected to crash back down to Earth soon.
A defunct European Space Agency (ESA) satellite calledERS-2is predicted to reenter Earth’s atmosphere sometime Wednesday, breaking apart and likely — entering the ocean, according to theESA’s website.
The satellite weighs just over 5,000 lbs. (2294 kg), similar to the weight of an adult rhinoceros. It is expected to enter Earth’s atmosphere at around 12:05 p.m. ET Wednesday, though it could reenter up to .

Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey killed a moose after his dog was injured on Monday morning of the 2024 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race outside of Skwentna, Alaska, per anIditarod press release.
Seavey told the race’s officials that out of self-defense, he was forced to shoot the moose with a handgun. The 37-year-old killed the moose after the animal “became entangled with the dogs and the musher," per the race’s statement.
