Like many others, I have been FaceTiming friends more often to keep in touch. An emergency warrant from Harris County Constable Precinct 1 allowed the Houston SPCA to get onto the Houston Heights property on on Nov. 2 to rescue the animals, according to anews release from the donation-based non-profit. All the animals were miraculously alive.
“The animals were living in deplorable conditions as the home was filled with debris, feces, and a heavy smell of ammonia,” the release read.
Their Animal Cruelty Investigation team and Harris County Constables Precinct 1 discovered the pups afterneighbors tipped off authoritiesto the neglect case, KPRC 2 News reported.

Visitors to a San Antonio park came across an unexpected walker: a tortoise weighing at least 50 lbs. wandering along a trail.
According to aFacebookpost from the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services (San Antonio ACS), parkgoers found the tortoise on August 7 in Phil Hardberger Park. The people who saw the animal assumed the reptile was a pet since no tortoises native to the area grow to be so large.

Nearly 500 whales washed up on a remote island chain in the South Pacific over the weekend.
Daren Grover, general manager of rescue organization Project Jonah,told CNNthat most of the pilot whales were already dead when they came ashore, and that the survivors were in poor health and ultimately euthanized.
