A 6-month-old became unresponsive and died earlier this month after being placed in a bouncy seat at a day care in Georgia, authorities said.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE, the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, which oversees day cares in the state, said that the incident occurred at the Pittman Park Education CenterĀ in Statesboro on Feb. 12.

The six-year-long court battle regarding Prince’s estate finally came to a close, leaving two parties to split roughly $6 million in cash and more regarding the late musician’s $156 million estate.
Prince’s six half-siblings were named his legal heirs after he died in 2016 with no living children or spouse and no will in accordance to Minnesota law, according toBillboard. Tyka Nelson, Omarr Baker and Alfred Jackson sold their interests to Primary Wave in the years since, creating the half of Prince’s estate now owned under Prince OAT Holdings LLC.

The young boy has since been hospitalized while recovering from fractures in his pelvic bone, two bruised lungs, a skull fracture, a blood clot in his brain, and a brain bleed, the news station reported. He was also recently diagnosed with COVID-19.
“Although it is scary with him still having the blood clot they said they will still monitor him closely with frequent follow ups & imaging so that give me a little comfort,” she wrote in a post on Thursday.

In a Monday, Dec. 16 news release shared with PEOPLE, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said officers in San Jose responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Interstate 280 on the late evening of Friday, Dec. 13.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 6-year-old boy was on the right shoulder of I-280 northbound, south of Leland Avenue.
In an email to PEOPLE, the Santa Clara Medical Examiner identified the boy as King Holguin, sharing that his cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries due to the collision.

A father and his two children were on a bike ride at Bluestem Prairie Open Space in Security-Widefield on July 5 when they stopped for a water break, according toCBS News.
“As soon as the kid was bitten the dad grabbed him and started running toward the street … screaming for help,” Security Fire Battalion Chief Derek Chambers, who responded to the father’s call for help, told CBS News.
“It’s hard to imagine what that family is going through,” Chambers told CBS News.
