The 7-year-old boy who was shot in the head duringthe shooting at Lakewood Church last Sundaylost part of his frontal lobe.
Samuel Moreno-Carranza, the son of the shooter, 36-year-old Genesse Moreno, “lost a major part of what makes us who we are…..a portion of his frontal lobe,” his grandmother, Walli Carranza, shared in a WednesdayFacebook post.
“Half of his right skull has to be surgically removed during two surgeries done in less than 24 hours,” Carranza wrote.

Investigators in Kentucky declared the death of a 7-year-old boy who died of “positional asphyxia” while in foster care a homicide.
According to a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police, the investigation continues into Ja’Ceon Terry’s July 17 death. No one has been charged with a crime stemming from Ja’Ceon’s death.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office released the boy’s cause of death last week.
At the time he died, Ja’Ceon was under the care of workers atBrooklawn, a children’s treatment center in Louisville.

A large sperm whale that became stranded on a Venice, Florida, beach over the weekend has died, police said.
On Sunday morning, the Venice Police Department announced that the local beach Service Club Park would be closed after a 44-foot-long male sperm whale had beached itself on a sandbar, according to theCity of Venice.
Several groups — including the Venice PD, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) — worked together to assist the male whale.

Robert Findlay Smith was arrested last month after police responded to an active shooting scene at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Vestavia Hills, a wealthy suburb of Birmingham.
This week, he was indicted for the slayings of Walter “Bart” Rainey of Irondale, 84, Sarah Yeager of Pelham, 75, and Jane Pounds of Hoover, 84,AL.comreported.
“Smith has been indicted for capital murder for killing two or more people,” District Attorney Danny Carr told the outlet on Friday.
