Former CNN anchor Aaron Brown has died, his family announced on Dec. 29. He was 76.
The journalist was known for covering the September 11 attacks, which gained him acclaim and a reputation as a trusted source of reporting. He was also the anchor of NewsNight — a CNN evening news program that meshed breaking news stories with thorough analysis — from 2001 to 2005, where he played a “pivotal role in shaping the network’s evening news format,“CNN wrote.

Born in 1987 to mom Jane and dad Bob, the singer became a global superstar when he released his self-titled debut album at the age of 10. In 2000, he released his second album,Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), which spawned hits including the title track, “That’s How I Beat Shaq” and his cover of The Strangeloves' “I Want Candy.

Aaron Carterwas planning to get back into acting before hisunexpected death at age 34on Saturday.
Last month, the pop star and rapper filmed the pilot episode ofGroup, an independent sitcom about mental health recovery. Since Carter’s death, writer and director has received his management’s permission to move forward with the pilot episode, which will be shopped around to networks once it’s finished and dedicated to the “I Want Candy” performer.
