Aaron Judgehas made MLB history once again.
The 30-year-old New York Yankees superstar — whosigned a nine-year contract with the team worth $360 millionthis month — was named the franchise’s sixteenth team captain.
Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner announced the decision duringJudge’s re-introductory press conferenceon Wednesday.
Steinbrenner told reporters it is his “great pleasure” to welcome the defending MLB MVP “back to the Bronx as the sixteenth captain of this great organization, the New York Yankees.

It’s official! With his 62nd home run in the books tonight,Aaron Judgehas surpassed Roger Maris' record for home runs in an American League single season.Judge, 30, broke the record with a one-run homer smashed into the left field seats at the Texas Rangers' Globe Life Field.It was just the third pitch he had faced Tuesday night, in the top of the first inning. It came nearly a week afterJudge had hit his record-tying 61st home runof the season against the Blue Jays.

Slide over, Babe, you’ve got some company!
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge tied Babe Ruth’s 95-year-old record Tuesday night, launching his 60th home run of the season and edging closer to Roger Maris' team and American League record of 61 in a single season.
Ruth hit 60 home runs in 1927, while Maris hit 61 in 1961.
Judge, 30, is just the sixth player in Major League Baseball history to reach 60 in a season.
