Alan Cumming is always going the distance for his art.
“There hadn’t been a James Bond for years,” Cumming remembered. And this new movie was supposed to bring Bond into the “new post-feminist world.”
“The women were kind of more empowered, you know, and I was called a Bond Boy because you used to always say the women were Bond Girls in a very sort of disposable sort of manner,” Cumming said.

“The reason that they asked me to be in their film was that Geri, when she was at college, her class came to see me playingHamletjust a couple of days after her dad died. And, of course, Hamlet is a character whose dad has just died and was in grief for that,” Cumming, 59, tells PEOPLE of his role in the English Touring Theatre’s 1993 production.

In a recent edition ofVanity Fair’s “Scene Selection,” theTraitorshost took a look back at some of his most famous roles, including his dastardly Fegan Floop from theSpy Kidsmovies.
“It’s so changed how people approach me,” he said of the franchise, which kicked off with 2001’sSpy Kids.
