Best Friends Animal Society, an animal welfare organization with hundreds of rescue and shelter partners nationwide, is warning of an animal shelter crisis.
According to a Wednesday release from the nonprofit, there are an estimated 100,000 more pets in the U.S. shelter system right now compared to the same time in 2021.
Best Friends Animal Society sent a survey in the summer of 2021 to 150 shelters to get information on how the pandemic affected their work.

Born in London in 1919 — just three months before World War I formally came to an end with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles — Danton went on to train in classical ballet at the Royal Academy of Dancing in the 1940s,WLBTreported.

Edith Murway-Traina is proving it’s never too late to push the limits.
“While I was watching those ladies doing their thing, I thought I just as well should pick up a few bars, and I did,” she told Guinness for a story on their website.
“Going on a regular basis, I found that I was enjoying it, and I was challenging myself to get a little bit better and a little bit better,” she added.

One Brazilian man has worked for the same company for over three-quarters of his life, setting a new record in the process.
According toGuinness World Records, Walter Orthmann, 100, has worked for textile company Industrias Renaux S.A. (now ReneauxView) for more than 84 years.
The record-keeping organization said Orthmann began working for the company in January 1938, after his family faced financial difficulties.
“Back in 1938, kids were expected to work to help support the family,” he told the organization.
