An 11-year-old girl died after losing consciousness while traveling on a Turkish Airlines flight on Sunday, according to authorities.
The child and her family were en route to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York when the girl fell ill shortly after their departure from Turkey,according to Sky NewsandNBC News.
As the plane prepared to make an emergency landing, a doctor “attended the situation and performed heart massage,” the spokesperson said.

Three employees at a Sonic Drive-In in Texas were arrested after an 11-year-old girl found an ecstasy pill in her little brother’s kid’s meal on Thursday, PEOPLE confirms.
“Being an 11-year-old, she asked her parents if this was candy,” Fluck said, according to the outlet.
Police conducted a field test on the substance, which turned out to be MDMA, also known as ecstasy, according to authorities.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping and child endangerment for allegedly luring an 11-year-old girl across state lines after communicating with her through online video games, according to authorities.
Darius Matylewich of Bear, Del., was arrested on Sept. 10, after the child was reported missing in Wayne, N.J. early that morning, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement released last Thursday.

Heart transplant patient Sofia Sanchez had a birthday to remember.
Nearly one week afterDrakevisited the 11-year-oldin her hospital room at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Sofia received news that she will be getting a new heart.
In a video posted to Instagram on Sunday evening, Sofia can be seen learning the news for the first time.
