Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr. confirmed the number of American troops killed during a Thursday afternoon press conference and said 15 others were wounded, along with civilians.
That toll represents one of the deadliest single days for American forces since the Afghanistan war, now in its final stages, began 20 years ago.
McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, said he did not have a confirmed casualty number for the Afghans.

Good news comes in twelves for Riverside Regional Medical Center!
A total of 12 members of the NICU team at the Virginia hospital were pregnant at the same time this year, with most still eagerly awaiting the arrivals of their bundles of joy.
“This is the most we have had historically in one year on our unit. Five are first-time moms,” a hospital spokesperson said in a statement about the group, which includes 10 registered nurses, one nurse practitioner and a unit secretary.

Alicia Jackson, 25, was the type of doting mother who kept stacks of books about prenatal care, child rearing and parenting.
Her 2-year-old son, Jeremiah, affectionately known as Juju, was the “apple of his mother’s eye,” says her cousin Shauntay. The proud mom loved showing her son off at church on Sundays and dressing him in the scarlet and gray colors of her alma mater, Ohio State University.

According toMassLive, New England fisherman Tim Rider found the 11-inch fossil weighing seven pounds while fishing for scallops in Newburyport, Massachusetts, during December 2021.
“Obviously, I can’t solve the world’s problems as a fisherman,” said Rider perNew England Cable News (NECN).“But I can contribute to help the people that are suffering.”
After the fascinating discovery, Rider turned over the fossil to the University of New Hampshire (UNH) for examination, added MassLive.
