A 12-year-old boy was paralyzed due to a rare neurological disorder after doctors initially dismissed his symptoms.
Maysen, from Australia, had been in “excruciating” pain for days, unable to eat and dealing with “intense headaches.”
On July 31, his mother, Jessica Bye, rushed him to Bacchus Marsh Hospital before they were transferred to Sunshine Hospital via ambulance. While there, she said Maysen didn’t receive proper medical attention,Yahoo News Australiareports.
“They said they think his symptoms don’t add up and that they think he’s exaggerating,” she told the outlet, claiming that staff appeared to “brush off” his symptoms.

“It felt like I got stabbed,” he says. “I knew it was real, but I didn’t want it to be real.”
In July, he was finally cleared to go home to Philadelphia, where he’s been focused on his recovery — andsharing his storyso others don’t experience a similar fate.

A 12-year-old child put hisBoy Scoutsskills to good use when he helped rescue a couple and their injured dog who became lost on a Hawaii trail.
David, who was with his mom Christine at the time, said the couple had their dog Smokey with them — a blue nose pitbull weighing approximately 100 pounds, perCNN— and he was injured.
