D’Marcus Brice was born withhydrocephalus, a condition that results in a build-up of fluid in the brain, causing permanent brain damage. Among a long list of ailments, the seventh grader’s underlying diagnoses areepilepsyandcerebral palsy– rendering him unable to eat, speak or walk on his own.

While he may not even be old enough to drive, Abhimanyu Mishra already has a place in the record books.
This week, Mishra was named the youngest chess grandmaster in history, earning the title at 12 years, 4 months, and 25 days old, theU.S. Chess Federationannounced. Mishra was previously named both the youngest master in U.S. history at 9 years and two months as well as the youngest International Master ever at 10 years, nine months, and three days, the Federation noted.

A Masai giraffe at the Los Angeles Zoo is dead aftergiving birthto a stillborn calf.
Hasina the giraffedied on Monday night following an anesthetized procedure to remove her calf, which was in an “abnormal breech position within the womb,” according astatement from the zoo.
The 12-year-old mammal had initially recovered from the anesthesia and was doing well, even standing up and eating, but her condition “remained serious,” zoo officials said.

According to the statement, the FBI is taking over the investigation into her disappearance. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Childrenalso announced on Twitter Jinjing had been found.
Jinjing weighs 90 pounds and stands at 5 feet 2 inches. She has black hair and brown eyes. The woman who was with her is described as being between 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 5 inches, with black hair.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake in Croatia has five dead, several injured and a country in disarray.

“My town has been completely destroyed. We have dead children,” Petrinja Mayor Darinko Dumbović told the station in a statement, per the AP. “This is like Hiroshima – half of the city no longer exists.”
