Laura Nuttall had just started her first semester at Kings College London in September when she began experiencing “persistent and annoying headaches,”according to a GoFundMe pageset up for the teenager.
She chalked the discomfort up to a simple cold, but when she became “quite sick” during the semester, she was taken to a London hospital where doctors delivered devastating news.

A teenager has died after going missing from a hike in California.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office revealed the tragic news in astatement on their Facebook pageThursday, saying they received a call “regarding a teenage subject who had gone missing from his hiking party near Thousand Island Lake” around 8 p.m. local time on Aug. 10.
MCSO explained that the 19-year-old — whose name was not given — was hiking with a group near the lake, which is part of the county’s Ansel Adams Wilderness, when he broke off from his party around noon and “swam alone to one of the islands at the lake.

A 19-year-old was fatally shot Friday while shielding his girlfriend from three people attempting to steal his car.
“Yhuky’s natural reaction was to cover his girlfriend in hopes of using his body to protect her from any harm,” his family said. “His girlfriend was unharmed. Unfortunately, Yhuky didn’t survive.”
Officials said the 19-year-old was transported to a local trauma center where he died from injuries to his torso.

One person is dead and another is missing after a Maryland apartment complex flooded early Wednesday morning due to the remnants ofHurricane Ida.
The Montgomery County Police Departmentconfirmed the incident in a press release, noting that they were alerted of flooding at the Rock Creek Woods apartment complex in Rockville around 3:50 a.m.
Fire and rescue officials immediately responded to the scene, where they helped dozens of residents evacuate from their terrace level apartments, according to the release.
