2 Deaths Reported in Latest Tornadoes to Ravage the South

At least two people died in the latest tornadoes to hit the southern U.S., and weather experts caution more trouble might be ahead for the devastated region. The National Weather Service declared a tornado emergency for the Midlands area of South Carolina to Mississippi on Tuesday,WLTX reported. The twisters coincided with severe thunderstorms and flash flooding, resulting in severe destruction and casualties. In Georgia, Bryan County Coroner Bill Cox confirmed to theAssociated Pressthat at least one person died as a result of a tornado striking their mobile home.

2 Die in Airline's Second Fatal Alaska Floatplane Crash in a Week

The circumstances surrounding the crash and the names of the victims have not yet been made public. Thomas said 15 members of the Metlakatla Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, as did two Coast Guard Station Ketchikan response boats, a Jayhawk helicopter and a 26-foot rescue boat holding eight volunteers from the Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad.

2 Dolphins Found Dead with Bullet Wounds in Florida, Officials Offering $20K for Information

According to apress releasefrom the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found the first dead mammal in Naples, Florida, last week, with a wound that appeared to be from a bullet or a sharp object. In that same week, experts with Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge found a second dolphin in Pensacola Beach, Florida, with a bullet in its side.

2 Earthquakes Hit Near Iranian Nuclear Power Plant Hours After Missile Strike, Plane Crash

There were no immediate reports of casualties, local news outletssaid. A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit the area less than two weeks ago. Wednesday’s quakes struck within 12 miles of the city of Borazjan, located near the Bushehr nuclear power plant,CNNreported.
