Two firefighters have died while attempting to stop a blaze on a cargo ship carrying 5,000 vehicles in New Jersey.
Five to seven cars were alight in the fire, which had broken out on the 11th and 12th floors of the “Grande Coaster Eadoirio” cargo ship at the Elizabeth Marine Terminal in Port Newark, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

Because of his experience with the animals, Hawthorne, 21, knew that the coastal brown bear lurking behind the men wasn’t looking to attack them, but was instead focused on possibly catching itself a salmon dinner in the creek below.
“Knowing from experience there that it isn’t a threat in how it was playing out, I had time to take a photo before letting this guy know that he had a bear behind him,” he says.

A Florida woman killed her 10-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter before shooting herself in a “double murder-suicide” incident, authorities are saying.
Sheriff Grady Judd identified the mother as Brandy Hutchins, 43, who was found dead with her two children on Sunday morning in Waverly, Fla., following what authorities say was a custody battle with the her son’s father.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in astatementon Sunday that the incident began as a “domestic event” and custody battle, eventually culminating in the murders.

Two teenagers were killed and one was left with no brain activity following three separate shootings last week in a northern Florida county that authorities believe may be connected.
It all began on March 30 just before 11 p.m. when deputies were called to the Forest Lakes Park and SE 183rd Avenue Road, where they found a 16-year-old girl laying on the side of the road suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a press release from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

After coming home from a night out with friends in January 2020, 23-year-old Veronica Reyes-Diaz tucked her kids into bed before walking back outside. The Tampa, Fla., woman hasn’t been seen since, leaving behind her SUV with her keys, purse, wallet and cash in the vehicle.

Police have not declared either missing person case the result of foul play. Nor have they made a connection between the two disappearances.
