Two men have been found dead after going missing in waters off Oahu’s North Shore in Hawaii on Sunday.
According to the department, they received a 911 call at 3:40 a.m. local time about “missing divers offshore of Velzyland in the Sunset area and responded with 5 units staffed with 16 personnel.”
“The first fire fighters noticed a submerged dive light about 150 feet from shore that was not moving”, where they discovered the first diver.

Mark Gorski, 56, and Zaidius Perry, a 36-year-old father of four, jumped into Thornes Creek in Hazlet around 2:40 p.m. when they heard their friend yelling for help in the water,WABCreported. The two men drowned and their friend was later found in distress near the water’s edge, according to the station. Officers entered the water and were able to bring him to safety, and he was transported to a local hospital.

An 85-year-old man and an unidentified woman are being praised as heroes after they alerted a sleeping family that their house was on fire in Kendall Park, New Jersey, this week.
On Wednesday, the man — who was identified as the family’s neighbor Santo Livio — told police that he looked out at his yard around 5:30 a.m. to check for animals when he saw a “puff of smoke” coming from the garage of his neighbor’s home, according to astatementfrom the South Brunswick Township Police Department.

Two Native Hawaiian men have been sentenced to several years in federal prison on Thursday for beating their white neighbor nine years ago, an assault categorized as a hate crime.
U.S. District Judge J. Michael Seabright sentenced Kaulana Alo-Kaonohi, 32, and Levi Aki Jr., 33, to more than six years and more than four years in federal prison, respectively. Several U.S. Attorneys argued that the men’s assault of victim Chris Kunzelman was racially motivated, according to theDepartment of Justice’s statementissued Friday.
