A pilot instructor and his student were rescued from choppy waters on Saturday after their aircraft went down in the ocean off the coast of Hawaii.
No major injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred just before 6 p.m. about eight miles off the coast of Lanai, the U.S. Coast Guard said in apress release.
Watchstanders with the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center received a report that the DA40 Diamond Star aircraft was experiencing engine trouble, and “was likely going to ditch in the water,” the release said.

Two Idaho residents were rescued from a terrifying situation on Monday after authorities say their pickup truck went off a bridge over a gorge’s deep canyon.
The Idaho State Police (ISP)confirmed in a press releasethat a 67-year-old man and 64-year-old woman, both from Garden City, along with two dogs, were inside the truck at the time of the incident.

Two pilots died at an air racing show in Reno, Nevada, after their planes collided on Sunday.
California residents Nick Macy and Chris Rushing were killed during the final day of the National Championship Air Races, the Reno Air Racing Association (RARA)said in a statementposted to social media.The planes collided upon landing after the T-6 Gold Race.

Two pilots are lucky to be alive after their plane crashed along the coast in Western Australia.
“Both have received medical attention, have been released from hospital and are now recuperating,” continued Coulson’s statement, which was released Tuesday. “They were deeply shaken to have something like this happen while fighting for the community and are grateful they were able to walk away from the accident.”
Coulson added that he is “grateful” for the support being shown to his team members and the pilots involved.
