Police have arrested a Florida couple for allegedly holding two young women captive on their farm for years while sexually abusing and beating them, PEOPLE confirms.
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office detained Mirko Ceska, 58, and his wife, Regina Ceska, 55, on Friday — nearly two weeks after the two alleged victims approached officers saying they’d escaped days before from the couple’s Crawfordville home.
“Two females for whom Mirko and Regina Ceska exercised custodial responsibility reported … they had escaped from them on June 28, 2019, after being physically and sexually abused for years,” reads a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Two women from Maine are recovering from a miracle escape.
On Sunday, Kimberly Pushard, 51, and Angela Bussell, 50, were found alive inside their Jeep near a remote snowmobile trail in the Maine wilderness, having been lost on the road for five days.
The friends, who both have “intellectual disabilities” according to New Hampshire State Police, set out for a trip to The Maine Mall in South Portland on Feb.

For decades, two women whose dead bodies were discovered in the so-called Texas Killing Fields — a swampy area outside Houston where the bodies of dozens of women have been found since the 1970s — remained unidentified.
On Monday, with the help of DNA technology, League City officials announced the women’s identities and asked the public to help the investigation into who killed them.

Annette Schnee, 21, and Barbara “Bobbi Jo” Oberholtzer, 29, vanished back on Jan. 6, 1982.
Investigators do not believe the women knew each other, but suspect they were both kidnapped hitchhiking home from Breckenridge, where both worked.
KDVR,Denver7, and9Newsall report that Alan Lee Phillips, who lives in Dumont, faces murder, kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon charges in each case.
Phillips remains in custody without bond.
