The2021 Golden Globesdid not fare well in the ratings.
Sunday night’s ceremony garnered 6.9 million viewers, down 64% from the prior year’s show, according to a report from theAssociated Press, that cited Nielsen Holdings.
Last year’s ceremony, which took place ahead of lockdowns related to the ongoingCOVID-19 pandemic, reached 18.4 million viewers, the outlet added.
The last time the Golden Globes had such a low viewing audience was back in 2008 during the writer’s strike.

Bob Baffert, who trained the 3-year-old colt, released a statement noting that the horse died from a heart attack.
There are plans for the colt to undergo a complete necropsy that will help determine more about the cause of death.
Santa Anita released a statement as well, according to AP, noting blood, hair, and urine samples were taken from the horse and sent to the California Horse Racing Board.

It really was the biggest night for Latin music.
The top Latin artists and musicians reunited under one roof last night for the2021 Latin Grammy Awards, and between all of the show-stopping performances and big music wins, the roof was surely raised.
Hosts Carlos Rivera, Roselyn Sánchez, and Ana Brenda Contreras smoothly guided the audience through the night, while honoring Latin music’s biggest artists through various awards and honors.

The 14-year-old eighth-grader from Harvey, Louisiana, correctly spelled “Murraya” — a genus of flowering plants — to clinch victory Thursday night during the bee’s live finals atWalt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
Zaila, who is also a basketball prodigy, is the first Black American student to be crowned the champion in the bee’s nearly century-long history, as well as the first winner from Louisiana.

The 2021 Oscars are shaping up to be quite the unique event.
Glenn Weissis set to return as director of the ceremony for the sixth straight year. Weiss has won twoEmmy awardsfor directing the show in that timespan.
The director comes on as Oscar producers — Jesse Collins, Stacey Sher and Steven Soderbergh — say the show will feel different this year.
“Our plan is that this year’s Oscars will look like a movie, not a television show, and Glenn has embraced this approach and come up with ideas of his own on how to achieve this.
