A 23-year-old Massachusetts woman narrowly avoided needing her leg amputated after shedeveloped a life-threatening conditionduring a spin class.
Kaelyn Franco is a longtime athlete who played soccer and softball in high school and continued with athletics in college. In September, a friend recommended that the recent graduate give spin class a try, and she took her first one on Sept. 15.
During the 45-minute class, “I was definitely pushing myself for sure, but I don’t think I was overworking myself to the point where I was like, okay I really overdid it,” Francotold Today.

Olympic track cyclist Kelly Catlin died of an apparent suicide on Friday, theAssociated Pressreports.
Per the AP, Minnesota native Catlin was found dead in her California on Friday.

In a statement to the AP, USA Cycling chief executive Rob DeMartini said: “The entire cycling community is mourning this immense loss. We are offering continuous support to Kelly’s teammates, coaches and staff. We also encourage all those who knew Kelly to support each other through the grieving.

A beloved Missouri paramedic died on Tuesday morning after an accident at a local gym.
“That occurred approximately 20 minutes before another gym goer entered the facility and found Dolores on the ground, unresponsive,” police said. “The citizen rendered aid and called for help.”
Capt. Ray Floyd told KSDK that police “believe she probably died from asphyxiation.”
A Club Fitness spokesperson tells PEOPLE in a statement that they are “continuing to work with local authorities to investigate this incident.

A 23-year-old woman in Mexico broke dozens of bones and underwent 11 hours of surgery after falling at least 80 feet from the balcony of a high-rise apartment building while doing yoga, reports say.
Alexa Terrazas, of San Pedro, Nuevo León, was hanging over the glass balcony when she lost her balance and plummeted to the ground last weekend, according toSpanish news outletEl Sol de Mexico. She was taken to the Zambrano Hellion Medical Center, where doctors said her ankles and knees will need to be restructured and recovery could take three years, the outlet reported.
