The tragic incident occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday near Fresno when a Hyundai Elantra had collided with a tractor trailer on Highway 99, according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol.
During this time, a red SUV drove between around the two vehicles, knocking Ramos to the ground and “causing fatal injuries on impact,” according to the CHP.
The law enforcement agency said that the driver of the passing SUV stopped and stepped out briefly, before getting back into the vehicle and speeding away.

Jacob Farley, a 26-year-old father from Wichita, Kansas, died on Friday after jumping into a river to rescue a stranger from drowning.
According to theMissouri State Highway Patrol, a woman who was swimming in the Elk River in Noel, Missouri was swept under water near the river’s dam. Farley jumped into the water to “attempt a rescue,” authorities said.
The Noel Fire Department arrived on scene and was able to rescue the woman with a throw rope, but Farley drowned.

Jimmie the giraffe, possiblythe world’s oldest living malegiraffe, died recently at the age of 26.
Plumpton Park Zoo announced that Jimmie was “humanely euthanized” shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at their facility in Rising Sun, Maryland. The animalentered hospice carelast month, according to CBS13.
“Unfortunately, his hoof and leg conditions had progressed to where he was experiencing constant discomfort,” the zoo said in a press release on Thursday.
