Arthur Medici had plans to propose to his girlfriend before his life wastragically cut short in a deadly shark attackover the weekend.
The 26-year-old, of Revere, Massachusetts, recently had rings custom-made in his native Brazil for his girlfriend, Emily Rocha, his friend (and Emily’s sister), Isaac Rocha, toldThe Boston Globe. He planned to propose on a beach, according to Isaac.
“I saw him go down and then I saw him go back up and saw a lot of blood and he was screaming,” Isaac told the station.

A Los Angeles man has been arrested after allegedly murdering his mother and young nephew.
David Cordoba, 26, was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder on Friday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in apress release.
Cordoba allegedly killed his mother, Maria Rodas, 60, and his nephew Alan Cordova-Robles, 6, on December 21. ABC 7 previouslyreportedthat they were stabbed to death following a family dispute.

Police said that the cannon was “designed to create a big flash, a loud noise and create smoke,” but likely fractured after it was loaded with gun powder.

Medici was boogie boarding when the shark attacked, according toMassLive, leading to the first shark attack fatality in Massachusetts in eight decades.
Medici grew up in Brazil and moved to the U.S. for college two years ago, according to WCVB. HisFacebook pagelisted him as an employee of The Capital Grille in Burlington, Massachusetts, a student at Bunker Hill Community College and a resident of Revere, Massachusetts.

A 26-year-old Nebraska man is facing sex crime charges after he allegedly posed as a 17-year-old high school student for nearly two months, say police.
The alleged crime came to light on June 1, when the Lincoln Public School District contacted police after learning that someone had allegedly been “impersonating” a student enrolled under the name Zak Hess at the two high schools in town, police said in the release.
