James Cody Skene, 29, was taken into custody for driving under the influence after an electric scooter he was riding on collided with a 91-year-old man, according to a press release from theLos Angeles Police Department.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene to render medical aid, but the man succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
Skene and a female passenger were traveling on one scooter together down the sidewalk and both were ejected from the vehicle at the time of the collision, authorities said.

A North Carolina man has been arrested in connection with thefatal road rage shooting of a Pennsylvania mother of sixlast week.
Dejywan R. Floyd, 29, is facing charges of first degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied property, theRobeson County Sheriff’s Officesaid Thursday.
On the morning of March 25, Floyd allegedly shot and killed Julie Eberly, 47, of Pennsylvania through the passenger window of her car, authorities said.

A 29-year-old man is dead after falling from Kentucky’s Clay Wade Bailey Bridge.
The Covington Police Departmentidentified the manin a press release on Monday as Cincinnati resident William J. Ramos II, who was spotted walking alongside the bridge’s roadway at around 2 a.m.
According to the release, Ramos sat on a concrete divider as the responding officer got out of his patrol car but then “suddenly fell over the edge.
